"INTERVIEW"

Modeling is 20% of the Miss Majorette of America Score

WHY? WHERE? HOW? WHAT? WHO?

Interview is 20% of the Modeling Score

Therefore, practice on your modeling routine and interview should be 20% of your practice time.

An interview is a conversation between you and the judge.

Never repeat the question.

Practice your verbal response, grammar, diction, and volume daily using a tape recorder to monitor yourself.

Avoid...um, yeah, ya know, well, un huh, like, etc.....

You will be given a brief question ( ... ) and expected to give a complete (............) answer.

Make sure your response will stand out from everyone else. Never give a stock answer.

Sometimes having planned answers result in a boring rehearsed interview.

When starting your interview you might reply with:

I enjoy....I feel....I like....I would love to....Many times....

POISE & PERSONALITY

How you control yourself while interviewing is another important factor.

Entering the chair....sitting in the chair....leaving the chair.

Hands are a natural part of speaking, but should not be over done as some judges frown upon anything but the cupped hand position.

Posture should be erect but not stiff.

Feet should be placed comfortably on the floor in a basic foot position of the S curve. Knees should always be together.

Eye contact should be direct with the judge. Wandering eyes signal the judge you are not confident. You must give the judge your complete attention to make them obligated to give you theirs.

The most important thing ......MODELING SHOULD BE NATURAL. The judge wants to find out about you, not how well you have remembered the answers to the questions, or how expensive your costume or gown is, or who has the best hairdo and the most makeup. The judge wants to see a flattering costume/gown with style, color and maturity level that fits you. They also want to see a hair style that flatters you, not a style that everyone else is using and they don't want to see your makeup. They want to see YOU, so the amount of make-up you use should only enhance your natural beauty, not cover it.
